People may lose an eye or any portion of their face due to injury or disease. The result may be a physical handicap, but psychological and economic consequences of facial disfigurement may prove to cause a greater impact in the individual’s life (and possibly the family’s and friends).

David is the only board certified ocularist in the Southeast who wears an ocular prosthesis. He received his ocularist training at the Eye Foundation Hospital/University of Alabama Medical Center at Birmingham where he was on staff for seven years, first as an ophthalmic photographer and later as ocularist.
He became an apprentice member of the American Society of Ocularists (ASO) in 1976. In 1981 he received his ASO diploma and board certification through the National Examining Board of Ocularists (NEBO).
David purchased an ocularist practice in New Orleans, Louisiana, from Louis E. Lascola in 1993. Originally located on Canal St. in New Orleans, the practice now operates as L&B Laboratories, Inc. in Metairie, LA.
Jennifer joined L&B Laboratories, Inc. in 1996 as an apprentice ocularist under the direction of David Wyatt. She earned her American Society of Ocularists (ASO) diploma in 2010 and National Examining Board of Ocularists (NEBO) certification in 2011.
She also has a graduate degree in medical illustration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
